No, I agree. It wasn't a judgement so much as a casual first
impression based on my own expectations and biases.
I'd expect that other folks might have a similar reaction, but then I
don't know the reasons behind the decision against unicon unpacking
into a unicon-10.0 directory.

So unicon's more of an active project and maybe only recently stable
enough to consider splitting the release into stable (good for unicon
beginners) and development versions.
